Gilbert Thompson wins McCandless Rosebowl competition

THE McCandless Rose Bowl competition was played at Carrickfergus on Saturday, with the winner being Gilbert Thompson with a nett 61.
Low handicap winners were Bill Taggart nett 62, Peter Moore nett 66, and Graham Arthur nett 66.
High handicap winners were Billy Gibson, nett 61, Dixie Mills nett 63 and Tony Kerr nett 66. Jonathan Nelson scored 69 to take the Gross prize, while Ronnie Williamson won the Super Seniors with 40 points.
The Five Day members competition during the week was won by Chris McQuillan with 44 points. Lindsay Davison was second with 38 points.
On Tuesday, the Ladies Section played for the Dorothy McCillough Salver, with Lady Captain Lorraine Gibson winning the trophy with a score of nett 63.
Ruth Mawhinney was second with a nett 68 and Deane Musgrave third with the same score.
Entries for the Open Week competitions (Saturday 24 to Saturday July 31) are already high and would-be competitors are advised to contact the Professional at 93 351803 as soon as possible.
