Coming up stumps.... Chris Dempsey from Larne Cricket Club is bowled over by Asda’s donation of half time refreshments. Asda Larne Colleagues Rachel Cairns and Rachel Ford (R) helped launched the partnership.
ASDA Larne has 'come up stumps' in a recent partnership with Larne Cricket Club by offering to supply the team with refreshments during all home matches.
The outreach by the supermarket is part of Asda's wider community programme which shows support to community and sporting groups within the local area.
Geoff Murphy, manager of the new store, said the link with Larne Cricket Club is a fantastic way to give something back to the community: "We are delighted to be able to supply Larne Cricket Club with refreshments during all home games. In today's tough economic times, it's the smaller clubs and societies that are feeling the pinch the hardest.
“We hope that by supplying the team with refreshments it will enable them to invest the money they would have spent into further developing the club and the younger players coming through."
Willy McKinty, chairman of Larne Cricket Club, said the club is delighted with the offer from Asda and that it will certainly help develop and sustain the club for the future.
He said: "Larne Cricket Club is delighted that Asda is able to provide us with this support. "We are investing most of our limited resources into developing young cricketers from all around the Larne area and Asda's help means that we can invest more money into this youth development work.
"We hope that this is the beginning of a long-term relationship with Asda and that we can find other ways to work together in the future."
