A GROUP of eight students from Carrickfergus College recently represented the views of young people from the United Kingdom at the prestigious Euroscola event hosted by the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
The students had won a competition organised by the European Studies Programme to design a leaflet to promote European year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
One of the three winning entries from schools across Northern Ireland was designed by Joleen Cooper, Rebecca Humphreys and Gillian Scott, Year 13 College pupils.
During a full day session at the Parliament in Strasbourg, the College students took on the role of an M. E. P, discussing issues of mutual concern to young people across Europe.
The Euroscola was attended by over five hundred young people representing the 27 member E.U states and pupils had the opportunity to vote on a range of issues such as climate change, immigration and youth unemployment.
The event was a "fantastic opportunity" for the pupils to learn about the work of the European Parliament, and to make friends with other young people from across Europe.
